“Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.” John 6:68

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.”

John 6:63-70

The phrase ‘you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink’ has proven itself to be true, in all areas of life involving others’ choices. Even Jesus, the Holy Son of God didn’t force anyone to follow Him.  People claim to want the truth but when most hear about the truth that will set them free (John 8:29-35), they are no longer interested.

Why is Jesus Christ so undesirable to most people?

Why do they trust themselves more than the One who died for them?

Since being Born Again (John 3:5) through the blood of Christ alone, the Holy Spirit that came into my heart wants me to share it with everyone in my path.  My heart breaks to see this world’s attempt of knowing God is through religious traditions and good deeds. As I continue this Christian walk, I am becoming more familiar with Him and His small, still voice that often nudges me gently within my heart.

“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

2 Peter 3:8-9

Oh, the simplicity of salvation!

What will it take for people to realize that they cannot save themselves?

“Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.”

Matthew 16:28

Living for Christ daily, my testimony, is the greatest way to demonstrate His grace to the world around me.  I am able to trust that God will use it for His honor and glory. Ultimately, God is the only One who can open their eyes and point them to the cross.

It is a great relief to know that God simply asks His children to be faithful in leading them to the well of living waters (John 3) but it is their choice to accept His gift of everlasting life.
